Responsible travel with Hors-Pistes
“At Hors-Pistes Voyage, we firmly believe that sustainable tourism is essential to preserving Africa’s natural and cultural riches. As safari specialists, we are committed to offering authentic, eco-friendly experiences while supporting local communities.”
By prioritizing local partners: Our partners are based in the countries where you travel. We buy local products to offer you healthy meals. So you’re directly supporting the local economy.
By offering committed lodges: Our own lodges are constantly evolving in terms of sustainable development, with new energy-saving projects being launched every year. We also collaborate with lodges that share our responsible vision to offer you stays that combine comfort and sustainability.
By creating intelligent itineraries: each tour is designed to minimize driving time and make the most of each stage. The aim is not to “tick boxes”, but to discover African culture and wildlife in an authentic way.
By offering trips designed to respect the flora and fauna: we don’t offer any activities that exploit animals. Animal welfare and the preservation of nature are essential to us.
Fighting against plastic waste: to reduce our impact on the environment, we no longer distribute single-use bottles on our safaris. Our 4X4s are equipped with a reusable 20-liter bottle. We ask you to bring your own water bottle.
Offering tours in small groups: When you opt for an organized tour, you leave in a very small group, which encourages authentic encounters far from mass tourism.
Surround yourself with trained and experienced local professionals
Our employees are our greatest strength and our greatest source of pride!
We strive to work with local teams, train them and promote them internally rather than externally or abroad. We are proud to pay our staff with dignity for their work. We firmly believe in investing in our people, offering them opportunities for professional fulfillment.
Nevline, head of the Arusha office, began his career with Hors-pistes as a Kilimanjaro guide-translator, and has risen through the ranks thanks to his skills.
Several of our former guides are now lodge managers, and we are committed to rewarding a job well done, and to training, developing and upgrading the skills of our staff.
Take concrete action to help local populations
We invest in local projects such as the upkeep of schools like the one in Kolila, close to the Moyoni lodge in Tanzania.
In Kenya, in 2022, we created an NGO called “Heart of the Masao Mara”. Find out more about our actions in the link below:
We are members of Travelife and have begun the process of working, step by step, towards compliance with international sustainable development standards.
